ပျော်ရွှင်လေ့လာ Idiom ကမ္ဘာ

 

(1) as dull as ditch-water

အလွန်ပျင်းရိငြီးငွေ့ဖွယ်ကောင်းသော၊ စိတ်ဝင်စားဖွယ်မရှိသော (လူတစ်ဦး၊ လူတစ်စု၊ တစ်န့တာ၊ ပွဲလမ်းသဘင်၊ ကျောင်းပိတ်ရက်၊ စာအုပ်တစ်အုပ်၊ ရုပ်ရှင် . . . အစရှိသဖြင့်)

e.g.(1) This book may be a best-seller but it is as dull as ditch-water.
e.g.(2) My uncle and ant are good people but spending a holiday with them is as dull as ditch-water.

 

(2) a catch 22 situation
လူတစ်ဦးတစေ်ယောက်အတွက် တရားမျှတမှုမရှိဘဲ ဘယ်လမ်းကိုရွေးရွေး သူ့အတွက် ဆုံးရှုံးရမယ့် အခြေအနေမျိုးကို ဆိုလိုပါတယ်။

e.g. If Mg Mg goes to Bagan for his holiday, he will be unhappy. If he goes to Nagapali his parents will be unhappy. So, he is in a catch 22 situation.

 

(3) as easy / simple as ABC
နားလည်ရန် (သို့) ပြုလုပ်ဆောင်ရွက်ရန် လွယ်ကူသည်။

e.g. (1) Let's cook coconut-rice ourselves. It's as easy as ABC.

e.g. (2) Don't call the plumber. They are very expensive. I'll join the pipes myself. It's as easy as ABC.

(as easy as a pie, as simple as pie, falling off a log, falling off a horse စသည့် idioms များနှင့် အဓိပ္ပာယ်တူပါသည်။)

 

(4) buzz word
ဖတ်လိုက်ရရင်၊ ကြားလိုက်ရှုင် တကယ့်ကြီးကျယ်ခမ်းနားတဲ့စကားလုံးတွေပါပဲ။ တကယ်တော့ ဘာမှအဓိပ္ပာယ်မရှိဘူး လို့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်ရပါတယ်။

e.g. The words that he had spoken were just buzz words.

 

 

(5) as far as one can see
တစ်ဦးတစ်ယောက်ရဲ့ အဆုံးအဖြတ်၊ ဝေဖန်ဆုံးဖြတ်နိုင်သော အတိုင်းအတာကို ဆိုလိုပါတယ်။

e.g.(1) As far as I can see, they couldn't get married till next year.

e.g. (2) As far as I can see, I think I can live very well on my pension. (pension - ပင်စင်လစာ)

 

 

(6) as far as somebody / something is concerned
တစ်ခုသောနည်းလမ်း (သို့) တစ်ခုသော အတိုင်းအတာအထိ တစ်စုံတစ်ယောက်/တစ်စုံတစ်ခုက ပါဝင်ပတ်သက်သည်။ အကျိုးသက်ရောက်သည်။

e.g. (1) As far as I am concerned, he is free to choose what he likes.

e.g. (2) As far as I am concerned, the rain will not be here till last June.

 

 

(7) Call it a day / Call it a night (ညနေဘက်မှာသုံး)
မိမိဘာပဲလုပ်နေနေ၊ ဘယ်အချိန်အခါပဲဖြစ်နေနေ အဲ့ဒီလုပ်နေတဲ့အလုပ်ကို ရပ်ဆိုင်းပစ်လိုက်ပြီ (သို့) ရပ်နားလိုက်တော့မယ်လို့ ဆိုလိုပါတယ်။

e.g. (1) After twenty years as the Head Clerk at the office, U Mya had called it a day and retired.

e.g. (2) Mg Mg had a very busy day so he called it a night at 7 o'clock and went to bed.

 

 

(8) as fast as one's legs can carry one
မြန်နိုင်သမျှအမြန်ဆုံး (ပြေးသည်၊ သွားသည်၊ ထွက်သွားသည်)

e.g.(1) As soon as he left office, he went to the pub as fast as his legs could carry him.

e.g. (2) Don't beat the horse, he's already running as fast as his legs can carry him.

 

 

(9) As fast as butter
၀၀ဖြိုးဖြိုးရှိသည်။ (ကျန်းမာရေးကောင်းပြီး ဝခြင်းမျိုးကို ဆိုလိုပါတယ်)

e.g. Out of the five puppies born, one has died but the remaining four are alive and as fat as butter.

 

 

ေပ်ာ္ရႊင္ေလ့လာ Idiom ကမၻာ
